BlogEngine.Net Gallery User Control - Version 1.0 - Autothumb

2/18/2008 10:54:00 AM in Programming | Web Design by Matt

Adapted from BlogEngine.Net Gallery User Control - Version 1.0. Here's the difference, that script created thumbnails whereas this script just autogenerates the thumbnails using an aspx page. No permissions to worry about and no extra file creation. This is useful for adding a folder of images to a post and not clogging up your server with added thumbnail images.  Keep in mind that the user will be downloading the images completely in the background with the scripting doing the thumbnails (and retaining aspect ratio).  It's not recommended for large galleries but hopefully we'll have a full fledged gallery module for this blog software in the future anyway.

Download

Installation:

Put the "user controls" in that folder on your server.
Put thumbnailimage.aspx in the root (/) folder of you domain
Edit Gallery.ascx depending on what you have set up on your blog

lyteshow[thegallery] - slideshow version using lytebox
lytebox[thegallery] - single paging image using lytebox
lightbox[thegallery] - single paging image using lightbox

The example below is using lyteshow. There is really only one page, Gallery.ascx, that you'll have to edit based on what you have installed on your server. You shouldn't need to touch Gallery.ascx.cs except to read the instructions that were written by the original author on how to include the gallery in your post.
