Sozinha by Barbara Casini (2000)

Am I the only Barabara Casini fan on the net? Maybe no one in the US has heard of her. Her album Sozinha from 2000 is a wonderful live set recorded directly to DAT. It features just her and her guitar in what sounds like an intimate live setting at "Dottor Jazz", a difficult to find place "in Pisa where you find live music (not only jazz) nearly every night." She breezes through the set of classic Brazilian bossa nova material and after enjoying this second disc I'm beginning to hear her distinctiveness that at first reminded me of Joyce. I loved the stripped down approach that contrast nicely against Vento, an album which almost ventured into the realm of overproduction - a problem with all recorded music. A highly recommended bare bones Italian bossa performance!
