Agnès Varda's Cléo de 5 à 7 is an incredible journey of vignettes in the life of a singer, Cleo, who awaits her medical test results. Varda is the only female French New Wave director of note and she's been a consistently inventive director over the years with Cléo de 5 à 7 being her first major work. The film is divided into chapters the signify the two hours of time in which the film takes place - seemingly almost in real time. Each vignette slowly rises and falls and then transitions into the next almost hypnotically. A wonderful experience.
