Diversion Tactics of an Information Systems Analyst

Bande a part (Band of Outsiders) by Jean-Luc Godard

If this isn't Godard's masterpiece (that may be Weekend), then it's certainly his most accessible and enjoyable film. When you see this, you'll never watch Quentin Tarrantino's movies the same way again because Godard is the source. This film is COOL - straight out of a pulp novel. Cool techniques and digressions from the narrative, cool characters and a cool breeze that blows throughout (you can actually feel it on your face). Godard has a way of pulling you out of the story - at least it seems that way (like in some films the characters speak to the audience), but this instead draws you deeper into the story. You know the characters are acting, you know it's fiction, but you can't help but be enveloped in their world. The more Godard makes you realize the artificiality of the cinema, the deeper you go into it.
